Pretty cool! She appears to be using a Rungu, which is a mace of Medieval Swahili origin, popularly associated with the Massai People today. Rungus can also be utilized as throwing weapons. The hooked shape would allow this Hyaenid to add some spin to her weapon upon being hurled through the air, which will add more power, and can potentially cause the weapon to bounce when it strikes a solid surface. So if one person blocks it, they may end up rebounding it into another person besides them, likely their own comrade. In Europe, the Franks employed throwing axes that functioned similar, called Franciscas, which followed the same principle of being a hybrid throwing/melee weapons, and rebounding off solid surfaces.
